FAQs

  • Can I attend the festival from outside of BC?

Unfortunately, no. Streaming is geo-locked to BC this year. If you are watching from BC and receive an error message, please use the pink chat button and one of our fabulous volunteers will swing into action.

  • Why is VQFF online this year?

We want to continue to build the wonderful VQFF experience while making sure that everyone can do so safely and abide by social distancing guidelines. This year’s Festival includes all the films, workshops, artist Q&As, panels, parties and – most importantly – the feeling of gathering with friends and kin that you’ve come to expect from your favourite queer film festival. We encourage you to watch films and join our events with loved ones, friends, and/or your chosen family. Just remember to wash your hands!

  • How do I buy tickets, passes, and memberships?

Go to Attend > Tickets, passes, and memberships. In other words, here.

  • How much are tickets, packs, and passes?

We’ve got you. Find all that on the tickets, passes and memberships page.

  • Why do I need a membership?

To see any films presented at the VQFF, you must become a member of the Out On Screen Film and Video Society.

The Festival presents films in compliance with the Motion Picture Act and Consumer Protection BC. Also, your membership demonstrates support of our mission to illuminate, celebrate, and advance queer lives through film, education, and dialogue.

  • I want to watch with friends and family, do we all need to buy tickets?

You only need to purchase one ticket per household to watch a film. If you have multiple people in your household who will be watching and wish to account for that, we encourage you to purchase our ‘Friends With Benefits’ ticket priced at $21 or make a donation in any amount during the checkout process or any time you feel compelled.

  • How do I access my ticket(s)?

You’ll get a confirmation email with all the details you need.

If technology fails us, head over to your elevent account and find you voucher number there in your order history, then hit WATCH on our homepage and you’ll be prompted to enter your ticket/voucher number where it says ticket holders on the bottom left of the screen.

  • Can I buy a ticket after the film has started?

Yes. You’ll be able to purchase a ticket within one hour of our official screening time and watch the film for up to three hours after the screening starts.

  • Do you offer refunds for passes, memberships, or single tickets?

Accessibility

We’re proud to continue our longstanding commitment to ensuring that the Vancouver Queer Film Festival is accessible, even when we’re hosting it online. Access is an act of love and community building and we recognize that a lack of access is connected to the systems of oppression that we are actively working against as an organization.

  • Going Online We want to continue to build the wonderful VQFF experience while making sure that everyone can attend safely during COVD-19 measures. If you are experiencing difficulty with any content on our website or require assistance with any part of the online VQFF experience, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
  • Access Ticketing Policy We have adjusted our access ticket pricing to include; Access $10, a reduced price for seniors, students, and underemployed and Access+ $5, a temporary pricing for 2020 for those experiencing additional hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Purchase your tickets here.
  • Community Tickets We issue over 500 complimentary tickets and memberships to community groups for individuals who face financial and other barriers to attending the Festival. Contact us if you’d like to be included in an upcoming festival.
  • American Sign Language ASL interpretation is available at select screenings as indicated on the schedule. Subtitled films also noted.

We acknowledge that we have limitations and are not able to accommodate every person’s needs, however, we continue to work to improve and increase our accessibility. If we are not meeting your needs, please email us.
