Youth Drag Workshop

Are you ready to W-E-R-Q the house down? In similar fashion to our Youth Gala film, Alaska is A Drag, we are hosting a Youth Workshop that explores the various facets of drag performance and art. Get ready to look and dance the part, just like some of your favorite drag queens. Whether you know all the tea there is about what drag is, or just learning about it, this workshop is meant for you. Plus the first 20 participants who register at the door will receive a FREE TICKET to the Youth Gala film!

Blanche Macdonald Centre, Vancouver’s award-winning beauty college, will be on site to teach you how to beat your face for the gods.

In Ralph Escamillan’s vogue vogue femme class you will learn the 5 basic vogue elements that is incorporated in the freestyle dance form. His background as both a commercial and contemporary dancer make for a class that is accessible to anyone, any age at any dance level. you will for sure have fun and break a sweat learning how in this vogue class.

A style birthed from the underground drag culture of New York City, and raised by House music; VOGUE dance is a style that strives to find one’s individuality and self confidence. It was famously popularized by artist Madonna in the music video – “Vogue” and since then artists such as Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Azealia Banks and most recently FKA Twigs have used vogue as a source of inspiration.

Born in Brampton, ON, Ralph started his training at age 14 at Harbour Dance Centre in Vancouver, BC. His arsenal of performance skills include a variety of street dance styles, ballroom, circus, drag and was a graduate of Contemporary Training Program Modus Operandi (2015).  In his earlier years of dancing he danced with Vancouver crews such as Kill The Lights, House Of Ladouche, Freshgroove Productions, SickStyles and 247company.
