We Are the Vancouver Men’s Chorus
In 1981, the Vancouver Men’s Chorus (VMC) broke ground and became Canada’s first gay chorus. Over the next thirty-eight years, they’ve grown into a nationally acclaimed and internationally recognized chorus. While they’ve charmed audiences from Toronto to San Francisco, no crowd loves the VMC as much as Vancouver, with many of us attending their signature performances Making Spirits Bright and Big Gay Sing year after year.
Director Mark Halliday invites us to get up close and personal with the singers. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the chorus learning their choreography, rehearsing new musical numbers, and, at the heart of this home-grown documentary, is a powerful sense of belonging.
And what better way to recognize the screening premiere than a performance by VMC themselves! Prior to the screening, select members of the VMC will be singing hits from their summer productions.
