By playing with silence in cinema, the film also challenges the assumptions of the “hearing world”. 10,579 KM: A QUEER JOURNEY FROM DAMASCUS TO VANCOUVER | Love Intersections | Canada | 10 min As an activist in the underground LGBTQ+ community in Syria, Danny Ramadan faced imminent persecution by the Syrian regime that led him to escape Damascus and eventually make his way to Vancouver. Danny shares his experience as a newcomer, devling into racism and privilege within the queer community, and offers his views on how we can be allies to Syrian refugees.
