Calling all queer, trans, and Two-Spirit filmmakers! Submissions are now open for The 30th Vancouver Queer Film Festival. This is your chance to screen your short or feature film at one of Canada’s most prestigious queer film festivals.

All filmmakers will be notified by late June, 2018.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

The Vancouver Queer Film Festival is the largest queer media event in Western Canada, with total attendance of over 14,000 annually.

We seek work that confronts stereotypes, pushes boundaries, arouses and tantalizes, and above all, highlights the tremendous diversity of queer artists, locally, nationally and internationally.

VQFF presents over 75 films each year, including short- and feature-length documentaries, narrative and experimental works. We host workshops, discussions, parties, and performances.

All films selected for the Festival are eligible for the following awards:

  • OUTtv People’s Choice Awards for Best Feature ($750)
  • OUTtv People’s Choice Awards for Best Short ($500)

BC artists with a short film in the festival are eligible for:

  • Gerry Brunet Memorial Award for Best BC short ($2,500 value) supported by Su Craik and Lisa Heddema and Directors Guild of Canada-BC.

Situated in one of the most spectacular cities in the world, we welcome visiting artists and industry professionals and provide great opportunities for both work and play.

**Please note we are also accepting year-round submissions for our Out in Schools program, which brings queer cinema to high school classrooms. Please see for more information.
