On February 28, 2017, Out On Screen received the City of Vancouver Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion.

The award, presented by Mayor Gregor Robertson, honours Out On Screen for outstanding leadership in fostering inclusion across diverse communities through its Out in Schools program and the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. The City of Vancouver Awards of Excellence celebrates those that make Vancouver a more prosperous city within five categories: diversity and inclusion, accessible city, greenest city leadership, civic volunteer and healthy city for all. Award recipients are nominated by the public and confirmed by City Council. Previous organizations to win the Award of Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion include Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS), Vancouver Street Soccer League, and QMUNITY.

“We are proud that our world-class queer programming has a real impact in advancing the lives of all people in Vancouver,” says Out On Screen Executive Director Stephanie Goodwin. “We are heartened that the City of Vancouver continues to recognize and value and importance of supporting and celebrating the LGBT2Q+ community.”

We are so happy and proud to be recognized for the important life-changing work that we do! We extend our thanks to our generous donors, sponsors, partners, and communities that helped us become what we are today. So much thanks to you all, with so much love in our hearts.
