Celebrating the midpoint of our 2016 Festival, this year’s Centrepiece Gala film is Strike a Pose, screening Wednesday Aug 17 at the Vancouver Playhouse, 6:30pm. In 1990, seven young male dancers – 6 gay, 1 straight – joined Madonna on her most controversial tour. On stage and in the iconic Truth or Dare, they showed the world how to express yourself. Now, 25 years later, they reveal the truth about life during and after the tour. Strike a Pose is a dramatic tale about finding the courage to be who you are. josekevin To celebrate the screening, VERY special guests will be joining us in person at the Centrepiece Gala: dancers Jose Gutierez Xtravaganza and Kevin Stea! They’ll be doing a Q&A immediately following the film. Jose Gutierez Xtravaganza will also be leading a FREE Vogue workshop at our Black Lives Matter Dance Party, starting at 10:30pm at The Alexander Gastown, Thursday August 18 (details to come!). If you miss the Centrepiece Gala, Strike a Pose will be screening again on Friday August 19 at Cineplex Odeon at International Village at 2:30pm. Tickets go on sale July¬†14, but you can pick up your Scotiabank Super Pass starting July 7! Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more updates!
